Iraqis Grieve Over Replacing Syriac Catholic Church in Baghdad With Shopping Mall!

Twitter users are sharing photos of one of the most prominent Syriac Catholic churches of Baghdad after it was demolished by authorities.

The church that was built about 200 years ago in 1838, was demolished reportedly to be replaced with a shopping center in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad.

With feelings of grief and sadness, Iraqis went to circulate the church photos and condemn its replacment it with a mall.

One user highlighted this church was the only one with a sign that reads: “Everyone is welcome, Muslim and Christians. We are all people of the county”.
