Iraqi prelate sees political drive to eliminate Christians

Chaldean Catholic Archbishop Louis Sako of Kirkuk, in an appeal issued through AsiaNews, has asked Christians throughout the world to call for stronger defense of the Christian minority in Iraq. The archbishop argues that a campaign of intimidation aimed at Christians is part of an overall political strategy. He notes: “The Iraqi parliament has approved a law that does not recognize the rights of minorities. This will lead to the definitive destruction of ethnic and religious minorities in this country, and will accelerate the exodus of the Christians.”
