Geagea tackles Iraqi Christians’ displacement with Syriac delegation

NNA – Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea received in Maarab a delegation of the Syriac Catholic Church headed by Archbishop Bassilios Gerges Casmoussa with talks touching on the situation of Iraqi Christian refugees.

“We have requested the help of the Lebanese Forces leader to provide facilities for the reception of Iraqi immigrants, especially after the great tragedy that occurred in the Nineveh Plain and the displacement of approximately 120 thousand Christians, some of whom left to the Kurdistan region, some of whom came to Lebanon,” Casmoussa said.

“We sensed open-mindedness and willingness by Geagea. We asked the Lebanese state to take into consideration ways to facilitate the reception of these immigrants at the airport, like all visitors of Lebanon,” he added.
