AUA release Visit of Mrs Jackleen Zumaya to Australia

The Assyrian Universal Alliance (AUA) welcomed to Australia Mrs Jakleen Zumaya, Former Member of Iraqi Parliament, Chairman of Enana Women Assembly, from– Iraq.
Mrs Zumaya was invited by the AUA as a guest of honour to the official opening of the Assyrian New Year Festival on 22 March 2015.
The AUA organized a number of meetings for their guest including meeting with members of the AUA.

On Wednesday 15th of April Mrs Zumaya visited the office of Mr Chris Hayes MP, Federal Member for Fowler, Chief Opposition Whip together with Mr. Hermiz Shahen, Deputy Secretary General of the Assyrian Universal Alliance, Mr David M David, Regional Secretary for Australia and New Zealand and Mr David I David , Member of the AUA –Australia Board. On Thursday 16th of April Mrs Zumaya also met with The Hon. Chris Bowen MP, Federal Member for McMahon, Shadow Treasurer.

During both meetings Mrs Zumaya talked about the development in Iraq and the neglect of the Assyrian issue after the liberation. She explained the situation of the displaced Assyrians in Syria and Iraq after they were attacked by ISIS and forced out of their historic territories.
As a matter of urgency and importance, she requested that the Australian Government to provide more humanitarian assistance to the Assyrian refugees and support the Assyrian demands for International protection.
Mrs Zumaya was farewelled by AUA representatives and other friends at Sydney Airport on Sunday 19th April 2015 before her flight back to Iraq.
