Omar Jawo extends Syrianska stay

omar-jawo-syrianska.jpgGambian international Omar Jawo has decided to extend his stay at Swedish Allsvenskan side Syrianska FC by signing a two-year contract extension deal.

Reports were that the 30-year-old defender was set to leave the Södertälje-based outfit following the end of his one year contract that he signed in the beginning of the 2011 Allsvenskan season with speculations suggesting that he will be moving to Trabzonspor in Turkey or Örebro SK.

An unsettled future seemed to await Jawo after the club’s director failed to offer him the chance to extend his deal and to add salt to injury, the club failed to renew the contract of six other players but Jawo was lucky not to be part of them.

Omar Jawo now secured a two-year deal with Syrianska that will see him remain at the club until 2014.

Omar Jawo began his youth career with Assyriska FF. He earned his first two professional caps with the squad in 2002, before signing with IK Frej in January 2003. After one season with IK Frej, he was sold to Vallentuna BK where he played for a year.

He later signed for Väsby United in 2005 before moving to Gefle IF in 2009.

After spending a year at Gefle, Omar later decided to move to Syrianska in 2011 after turning down offers from various clubs.
