Summary of Events

The regime intensified its crackdown on the suburbs of Damascus as it tried to penetrate the eastern Ghouta suburbs from more than one axis, while shelling the residential areas with heavy artillery and tanks. The attacks were concentrated on the cities of Erbin, Jesrain, and Zamalka, as well as the towns of Rankous and Talfita. The regime surrounded these cities and towns with tens of thousands of soldiers amidst heavy clashes with the rebels under the cover of heavy machinegun fire and heavy artillery shelling.

Assad forces killed at least 26 today, including women and children across the country. Amongst those fallen was also Father Basilius Nassar of the Rome Orthodox monastery in the town of Kafrubhum. Amongst those fallen was Father Basilius who was killed while trying to rescue an injured civilian in the Jarajma neighbourhood in the city of Hama.

The regime has been intensifying its military and security crackdown all over the country to stop the rebels from expanding their territories, as the regime has lost control over half of Homs, most of Idlib, Hama and Daraa, and many cities in the suburbs of Damascus and Deir Azzour.
