DAMSCUS- Delegated by President Bashar al-Assad, Minister of Presidential Affairs Mansour Azzam on Saturday conveyed to the heads of Christian denominations congratulations on Christmas, the day marking the birth of Jesus Christ, messenger of love and peace.
Azzam paid a visit to His Beatitude Patriarch of Antioch and All the East Ignatius IV Hazim, conveying to him and to the Greek Orthodox community President al-Assad’s congratulations on Christmas.
Also, Azzam conveyed President al-Assad’s congratulations to Patriarch Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas, Patriarch of Antioch and All Orient and Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox and to the Syriac community.
Azzam visited the Greek Catholic Church and extended congratulations on behalf of President al-Assad to Patriarchal Vicar Joseph Absi to the Roman Catholic community.
Azzam visited the Syriac Catholic Church and conveyed to Archbishop Elias Tabi and to the Syriac Catholic community President al-Assad’s congratulations.
Also at the Armenian Catholic Church, Azzam conveyed to Archbishop Youssef Arnnaoti and to Catholic Armenians President al-Assad’s congratulations on Christmas.
Azzam also visited the Evangelical Church Pastor Botros Zaour and conveyed President al-Assad’s congratulations to him and his community.
At the Maronite Church, Azzam conveyed to Archbishop Samir Nassar and to the Maronite community President al-Assad’s congratulations on Christmas.
Azzam visited the Latin Monastery, conveying to Father Rimon Georges and to the Latin community President al-Assad’s congratulations on Christmas
For their part, patriarchs and bishops expressed thanks to President al-Assad for his care and noble gesture.
