Iraq, Syria and ISIS: The situation and prospects for Christians in the region

Brussels, Wednesday 9th July from 10:00 to 11:30
(at COMECE, Square de Meeus 19, 1050 Brussels, Belgium)

In view of the rapidly declining situation in Iraq, Catholic charity Aid to the Church in Need has invited a delegation from Iraq to Brussels headed by His Beatitude Louis Raphaël Sako, Patriarch of the Chaldean Catholic Church. Patriarch Sako will come together with Archbishop Yohanna Petros Mouche of Mosul, and Bishop Youssif Mirkis of Kirkuk. They are bringing first-hand information about the latest developments in the region since the invasion of the ISIS armed group, as well as presenting some possible solutions they envisage.

During their visit, the delegation will meet with the press and have a programme of meetings with high-level representatives of the EU institutions: the EU Council, the European External Action Service, European Commissioners as well as with NATO.
