ICAE Institute calls for urgent meeting on the ISIS invasion of Mosul and its impact on Christians

The founder of Iraqi Christians Advocacy and Empowerment Institute (ICAE), Joseph Kassab, in collaboration with Steward Media, called for an urgent meeting for Iraqi American Christian leaders in Michigan on Friday, June 13, 2014, to discuss the impact of the invasion by the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham [Greater Syria]) (ISIS), and its brutal impact on the locals in particular the Christians of the area. Through two hours of serious discussions, the group looked into three main issues of how to assist and save the Christians in the impacted area.

It was unanimously agreed to send a letter of concern and immediate need focusing on the following:
1. Conveying a very clear message to the US Administration through our friends in the US Senate and Congress on the situation, and of what is happening to the Christians in the area.
2. To provide immediate aid to the victims
3. To provide the necessary protection measures for the displaced

Representatives from the Michigan delegation to the US Senate and Congress were present: from US Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, to US Representatives Sandy Levin, as well as Michigan Representatives Kint Kesto and Rudy Hobbs. This is the first time we engage the new generation of the Iraqi Christians Americans (business men, lawyers, doctors, media specialists, university students, and more..) in this kind of discussion.
