Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq (AAH) – a faction of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) sanctioned by Baghdad who responded Thursday to Iranian general Qassem Soleimani killed by American forces in Iraq – is said to have been the source of 6,000 attacks against the United States and coalition forces between 2006 and 2011.

Soleimani has American blood on his hands, reported the Institute for the Study of War in 2012.

Under President Donald Trump, the United States Department of State has designated a PMF faction and its leader – Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaban (offshoot AAH) and Akram al-Kabi – as specially designated global terrorists (SDGT).

The State Department also attempts to consider other factions of the PMF, including AAH, official terrorists.

The AAH continues to threaten American troops in Iraq, demanding their departure.

In November 2016, the Iraqi Parliament legalized the Iranian Allied MFP as a component of the Iraqi security forces funded and trained by the United States for helping to fight the Sunni Islamic State (ISIS / ISIL).

The PMF includes many militiamen and terrorists such as members of Kataib Hezbollah (KH) who fought and killed Americans after the 2003 invasion. The United States has held KH the group responsible for the recent death of the American entrepreneur and the destruction of the United States Embassy in Baghdad late last year.

The KH and the AAH are both closely linked to the Quds Force of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution (IRGC-QF) led by General Soleimani. The Trump administration has designated the IRGC-QF as a terrorist group.

Several American officials consider AAH and KH to be terrorists. In 2012, the Institute for the Study of War reported:

AAH has close ties to Iran. Lebanese operator Hezbollah Ali Mussa Daqduq, who was arrested by coalition forces in 2007 and released from Iraqi detention in November 2012, organized training for AAH fighters. He reported to Youssef Hashim, chief of special operations of the Lebanese Hezbollah; the latter reported to Abdul Reza Shahlai (AKA Hajji yussef), director of external operations for the Iranian Quds Force. Abdul Reza Shahlai was the mastermind behind the troubled 2011 plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States in Washington, DC. All reported to Qassem Soleimani, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Qods-Force (IRGC-QF)

Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq (AAH), also known as the “League of the Righteous,” has also resurfaced. This Iranian-backed militant Shia organization has claimed responsibility for more than 6,000 attacks against US and coalition forces in Iraq since its inception in 2006. AAH carried out spectacular and highly sophisticated operations during the height of the war in Iraq, including October 10. , 2006 mortar attack on the Falcon at the American forward operating base; a British Lynx helicopter crashed on May 6, 2006 in Basra, killing five British people; the attack of January 20, 2007 against the siege of the province of Karbala, resulting in the capture then the murder of five American soldiers; and the May 29, 2007 attack on the Iraqi Ministry of Finance, which ended with the abduction of five British contractors, four of whom were killed in captivity.

Along with Kata’ib Hezbollah (KH) and the Promised Day Brigades (PDB), AAH is an Iraqi Shiite militant group funded, armed and trained by Quds Force, the external operations branch of Iran Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp.

Until recently, the US military continued to fight Daesh alongside the PMF. Not all PMFs are Shia allies of Iran. The group includes Kurds and Christians.

Breitbart News has repeatedly asked the Pentagon if it considers the PMF a threat in Iraq, but the Defense Ministry has said that fighting Iran’s allied force is not part of its mission. This may have changed recently.
