Syria’s Syriac community representatives asked Turkish minister for a private shelter for the Syrian Syriacs who flee to Turkey, Turkish media reported Tuesday.

Syriac refugees travel to different cities of Turkey, but they don’t like refugee camps set for Syrians, the Turkish Syriac Catholic Deputy Patriarch Chorepiscopus Yusuf Sag told reporters after a meeting of with Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu late Monday.

“My proposal is with the favor of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, can we gather those (Syrian Syriacs) to a common place, such as (southeastern) Mardin province?” deputy Patriarch Sag said.

Sag said that he already knew some Syriacs who want to come to Turkey but they have kept questioning where they will be sheltered.

“We ask you to show compassion of a mother to our Syrian brothers,” he added.

Turkey has sheltered more than 185,000 Syrians registered in camps on its territory.
