Chef Matt Prentice whips up Chaldean cuisine for charity

Local Chef Matt Prentice will prepare authentic Chaldean cuisine from the Ma Baseema Cookbook at a fundraiser event for the Chaldean American Ladies of Charity at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Morels, 32729 Northwestern Highway in Farmington Hills.

Prentice will lead a group of 12 members of the Chaldean community who have authored recipes in the Ma Baseema Cookbook in cooking and presenting delicious Chaldean dishes to the public in a special dining event.

He will prepare nearly 20 dishes from the cookbook along with signature Morel dishes.

Since 1961, the Chaldean American Ladies of Charity (CALC) of Farmington Hills has continually assisted needy families of the metro Detroit area. The CALC is a nonprofit charitable organization that focuses its efforts on enhancing the lives of the people in the community. CALC’s time and volunteer efforts are spent helping those in need, encouraging youth, providing care for senior citizens, and maintaining the Chaldean culture within the diverse community in which members live.

Portions of the proceeds from the dinner event will be donated to CALC programs that help families in need.

Tickets to the fundraiser are $60 a person and are available at Morels or by calling CALC offices at 248-538-8300.
