Representatives of Monotheistic Religions Eat Fast-Breaking Meal together in Istanbul

A fast-breaking meal hosted by the Municipality of Sisli in Istanbul province brought together the representatives of monotheistic religions on Friday.

On the first day of Ramadan, Deputy Armenian Patriarch Bishop Aram Atesyan, leader of the Assyrian-Catholic Community Yusuf Sag, Ancient Assyrian Foundation’s Bishop Hanna Aykurt, Ancient Assyrian Foundation’s Deputy Chairperson Kenan Gurdal, Greek Orthodox representative Joachim Billis, and Sisli Mufti Ahmet Tuccar had fast-breaking meal together along with 3,000 other Istanbul residents in Sisli.

The representatives of the monotheistic religions all wished that Ramadan brings peace and tranquility to all humanity.

Speaking at the fast-breaking meal, the Mayor of Sisli, Mustafa Sarigul said that Ramadan was a month of love and sharing.

“Islam is the religion of peace and tolerance. I wish the whole Islamic world a peaceful Ramadan,” Sarigul noted.

Meanwhile, Turkish Minister of EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis joined the fast-breaking meal of his Justice and Development (AK) Party in Sultanbeyli town of Istanbul province.

Speaking at the fast-breaking meal, Egemen Bagis said that he wished everyone a happy and joyous Ramadan.

Istanbul, a city that was the capital of three empires and as the world’s capital, is a place where civilizations live side by side and is one of the cities in the world where Ramadan gets celebrated in the best way possible, Bagis stated.
