ASSYRIAN DELEGATION MEETING WITH THE MAYOR OF FAIRFIELD CITY

Assyrian delegates met with Fairfield Mayor, Frank Carbone, on Friday June 8, 2012.
The Assyrian Universal Alliance – Australian Chapter (AUA) and the Assyrian Australian National Federation (AANF) congratulated his worship, Councilor Frank Carbone, Mayor of Fairfield City for his appointment to the office.
The delegates in attendance were: Mr. Hermiz Shahen; Deputy Secretary General of the Assyrian Universal Alliance, Mr. David M. David; President of the Assyrian Australian National Federation and Mr. Ninos Aaron, Chairman of Young Assyrian of the AUA.
Following the resignation of Mayor of Fairfield City, Nick Lalich, in February 2012, Fairfield City Councillors nominated fellow Councillor Frank Carbone for the office of Mayor of Fairfield City. The nomination was presented to her Excellency the Governor of NSW, Marie Bashir, for official appointment which took effect from 22 March 2012.
Mr. Shahen thanked Mr. Carbone for his hard work and commitment to improving basic services for Fairfield residents and for working closely with the community.
Mr. David thanked Mr. Carbone for attending the Assyrian New Year Festival, one of the major events that the Assyrian community holds annually at Fairfield showground.
Mr. Aaron commended Mr. Carbone for his vision and his excellent projects over the next 10 years for Fairfield city. He thanked the Mayor for opening the Assyrian Art exhibition prepared by Young Assyrians on 1st April during this years’ Assyrian New Year Festival.
