Farmington Hills-based Agree Realty Corporation has appointed Hedley Williams chief investment officer. Williams will lead the company’s investment activities, as well as financing efforts, investor relations, asset level and portfolio risk assessment, portfolio balance and strategic planning.

Law

Butzel Long attorney Ziyad I. Hermiz was recently elected vice president of the Chaldean American Bar Association. Hermiz previously served on the board of directors of CABA.

Based in Butzel Long’s Detroit office, Hermiz concentrates his practice in the area of business litigation.

Prior to joining Butzel Long, Hermiz interned for Judge Avern Cohn for the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan (2007-08). Hermiz is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the American Bar Association.

Finance

Fifth Third Bank Eastern Michigan promoted Brian Black to senior lender, head of commercial banking. Black will be replaced as leader of business banking by Kala Gibson , who recently joined Fifth Third Bank. Black will take the commercial reins from Bill Ritsema , who is moving into a strategic business development role encompassing all lines of business with Fifth Third.

Accounting

Marx Layne & Company, a full-service public relations and digital media agency based in Farmington Hills, recently hired Micki Steele as an account executive. Prior to joining Marx Layne, Steele worked as a reporter at The Detroit News. She previously worked in media sales and advertising as a media buyer and account manager at ad agencies in Chicago and Metro Detroit.

Health Care

Jon M. Fitzgerald of Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, has been appointed senior vice president of philanthropy at Henry Ford Health System. He was to begin the position Aug. 1.

At Henry Ford, Fitzgerald will oversee all philanthropic activities of the health care system, including the Envision Campaign. Launched in 2007, the Envision Campaign has raised more than $176 million of its $250 million goal for renovations and expansion at Henry Ford Hospital, construction of the 300-bed Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital and research and technology for the health system’s nationally recognized centers of excellence.

Award

Allstate agency owner John Parr received the Allstate Agency Hands in the Community Award for his commitment to helping others.

With this award came a $1,000 grant from The Allstate Foundation for the Society of Notre Dame De Bonsecours Inc. in Canton, where Parr volunteers
