Remembering My Father

Dear Joe,
It is with a heavy heart that I wanted to let you know that my father Herb Peters passed away peacefully on Sunday surrounded by the people who loved him the most: his wife, his children and his grandchildren.

My dad dedicated his life to serving his country and his community in Rochester. He served in the Army during World War II, and when he returned home he dedicated his career to educating children in Rochester Public Schools. My dad loved history and sports. He was a reporter for local papers and the statistician for the football team at Rochester High School.

The Oakland Press, Detroit Free Press, and Rochester Patch ran stories about my dad this morning. The Rochester Patch also wrote a story about him this past February in which they reported he had been the oldest Rochester native still living in the area.

Many of you have called or written to express your condolences and to share your thoughts and prayers. I appreciate it so much, not only because of the support you have given but because you are helping to remember my father. Such support from our friends and the community is a fitting tribute to a man who always gave of himself to his friends, his community and his country.

For those who may want to attend his funeral, please see the arrangements listed below.

Colleen and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Gary Peters
