Crime Stoppers of Michigan and the Chaldean American Chamber are offering up to $12,500 for information leading to an arrest in the shooting death of Mazin (Mike) Khmoro, 48, of Farmington Hills, who worked at a Southfield party store owned by family members.
Khmoro was shot multiple times on Oct. 6 at about 4 p.m. at Cronin’s Liquor Store in the 29000 block of Northwestern Highway while taking out the trash by a man with a dark complexion wearing a light colored shirt, according to witnesses, and he drove away in a black SUV that may have been a GMC Envoy.
Southfield Police Chief Joseph Thomas said the shooting was calculated, and probably committed by someone who knew the patterns and schedules of Khmoro.
“We’re missing a name,†said Thomas. “That person lied in wait for at least two days, knowing the work pattern of the victim. “
Two of Khmoro’s sisters, May Khemmoro and Brenda Thweny, appeared with Southfield police chief Joseph Thomas Thursday morning in a plea for information.
“He died right in my arm,†said Khemmoro in tears. She worked in the store, and had just left when Khmoro was shot. “We want to find the killer. Please.â€
Martin Manna, executive director of the Chaldean American Chamber of Commerce, said in the past two decades, about 200 Chaldean people have been killed while working, and that store clerk is one of the deadliest jobs in America.
Khmoro worked at the store for seven years, and leaves behind a wife and three children.
