Armenia’s national minorities create weblogs

31808.jpgOn September 17-19, the Armenian office of the Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) held training courses Citizen Journalism for National Minorities. The participants studied the means of disseminating information throughout the network.
Zara Ghazaryan of the IWPR Armenia office told NEWS.am that eight new blogs joined the blog-ring after the training course. They tell about the national minorities in Armenia – Russians, Belarussian, Assyrians, and Yezids residing in the country. “Representatives of national minorities are rather active. They are interested in new opportunities afforded by information technologies, especially in blogs as a means of informing the public of their communities’ problems,” Ghazaryan said.
It is the second training course Citizen Journalism for National Minorities organized by the IWPR Armenia office this year. The first training course gave rise to four blogs of national minorities – Polish, Yezid, Greek and Ukrainian ones.
