Smoke is seen as Turkish fighter jets bomb Tel Tamir town in northeastern Syria, November 15, 2019. NRT/Tayif Goran SULAIMANI — The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have reached an agreement with the Syrian government and Russian forces to give Tel Tamir town over to Russian trusteeship, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Sunday (November 16). The UK-based SOHR said that the Turkish military and allied militant groups had been attacking targets near the town and that Syrian regime forces and Russian forces will soon be deployed there. “The agreement stipulated the withdrawal of Turkish-allied factions from some villages on the outskirts of Ras Al-Ayn,” SOHR stated. “It was expected that a Russian patrol would be conducted in Tel Tamir today, but it was postponed until tomorrow,” it added. In a statement on Friday, the Syriac Military Council said that five of its fighters had been killed defending Qasimiya and Rihaniya near Tel Tamir. It did not say exactly when the five were killed. Russia also landed attack helicopters and troops at a sprawling air base in northern Aleppo province near the border with Turkey vacated by US forces, the Russian Defense Ministry’s Zvezda TV channel said on Friday. Turkey began cross-border incursion against the Kurds in Syria last month after US President Donald Trump announced withdrawal of US troops from the area. (NRT Digital Media)
