Meeting with student from American university Berkeley

KRG Representation in Poland hosted a group of 20 students along with their academical adviser Dr Sarah Cramsey from University of California, Berkeley. They are pursuing scientific project: “Contours of Coexistence: Belonging in Modern Europe”. Within the frame of it, they are meeting minorities living in East-Central Europe and institutions representing them.

Guests were welcomed by KRG Representative Ziyad Raoof. He presented current situation in Kurdistan Region, told about KRG policy, informed about upcoming referendum and planned independence referendum. He also told about phenomenon of efficiently functioning ethnic-religious mosaic in Kurdistan Region Then Head of KRG Office Maciej Legutko showed presentation about details of activities of KRG Representation in Poland.

After the speech and presentation Americans posed questions. KRG Representative answered question about obstacles in Kurdish road to independence, details of the referendum and his opinion whether American invasions on Iraq brought more profits or losses for the Kurds. At the end of the meeting guests spoke with Kurdish student who also attended the meeting. They told about their motivation to study in Poland and plans for the future.

Delegation from University of California, Berkeley visited KRG office the second year in a row and promised to paid another visit in the next year.
