The exhibition, held in Tehran’s Ishtar Art Gallery, displays some 20 paintings by Alkhas, 10 of which were created over the past two months and have been exhibited for the first time.

Alkhas was honored during a ceremony, attended by the head of Tehran’s Assyrian Association, Albert Kochoei and the representative of the Assyrian and Chaldean Christian communities in the Iranian Parliament, Yonatan Bet Kolia.

Hannibal Alkhas studied philosophy for three years at the Loyola University of Chicago, Illinois and earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s of Fine Arts from Chicago’s Art Institute.

His work is deeply inspired by the ancient bas-reliefs and stone sculptures of ancient Assyria, Babylon and Daric-Persia.

Alkhas has held numerous domestic and international exhibitions and a number of his paintings hang in the Fine Arts Museum and Gallery of Modern Arts in Tehran.
