“The Committee continues to recognize the importance of providing
targeted assistance to the ethno-religious minorities in Iraq
to ensure their survival. The Committee continues the reporting requirement
from the previous year, directs the Secretary of State to
submit a report to the Committees on Appropriations, not later
than 60 days after enactment of this Act, detailing a comprehensive
United States Government policy to address the plight of these
communities, including those living in the Nineveh Plains. The policy
should be informed in part by both the recommendations of the
diaspora community in the United States and the struggling communities
within Iraq and should be forward-looking, rather than a
summary of previously funded projects and initiatives.”
