Assyrian criminal network crushed in NSW

FOUR young men, allegedly members of an Assyrian criminal syndicate, have been arrested in a crackdown on drug and gun crime in Sydney’s southwest.

The four were netted during dawn raids today.

A strike force was formed in July last year to probe the street supply of methylamphetamine and cannabis by the criminal group.

Three young men, aged 18, 19 and 20, were taken into custody as simultaneous search warrants were executed on four Fairfield homes shortly before 7am (AEDT) today, while an 18-year-old man was arrested overnight.

Police said the men were expected to be charged with more than 20 offences, including drug supply and participating in a criminal group.

Seven alleged members of the criminal group have so far been arrested by strike force investigators, including the syndicate’s 21-year-old alleged kingpin last month.
