The Annual Meeting of the Christian Churches Together in the USA

The Christian Churches Together in the USA held its Annual General Meeting in Memphis, Tennessee February 14-17. His Eminence Archbishop Mor Cyril Aphrem Karim represented our Syriac Orthodox Church who is a founding member of the organization. Archbishop Karim also participated in the meetings of the steering committee of the organization which were held before and during the gathering.

On Wednesday February 15, His Eminence lead the morning prayers according to the tradition of our church.

The CCT-USA is an ecumenical organization which brings together leaders and representatives of different Christian churches and organizations to pray and witness together, as well as, discuss challenges facing our society and try to speak to this issues with on voice. The CCT-USA is the only organization that includes in its membership all major Christian traditions such as: Catholic, Orthodox, Evangelical/Pentecostal, mainline Protestant and African American Families of Churches.

This year’s gathering included visits to historical places associated with the civil rights movement such as the Lauren motel where Martin Luther King was assassinated and the Slave Haven: Underground Railroad Museum.
