Shrapnel peppered the Sacred Heart Church in Karrada district, but no one was inside.

“We had just reached the scene to distribute food to the policemen there when the bomb blew up,” one of the injured officers said.

Meanwhile, about 700 Christians attended Easter services at a Chaldean church in Baghdad.

“Our life in Iraq is full of fear,” Father Hanna Saad Sirop told worshippers at St Joseph’s Chaldean Church. “But we have to live in faith and trust. We have to trust almighty God.”

About two thirds of Iraq’s 1.5 million Christians have left the country since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
