Archbishop of Kirkuk Warns of Threats of Civil War, Partition of Iraq

iraq_-_louis_sako1.jpgArchbishop Louis Sako, the archbishop of the Chaldean community in Kirkuk, said that the recent terrorist attacks against the Iraqi forces in the wake of U.S. military withdrawal have demonstrated the incompetence of the Iraqi forces to maintain peace.

The archbishop warned of the “danger of the spread of chaos” leading to a civil war that would result in the partition of Iraq along Sunni, Shi’a and Kurdish community lines, with each maintaining an army. Under such a development, the minorities are likely to be the victims.
