Arab American and Chaldean Council awards scholarships to area seniors

The Arab American and Chaldean Council recently awarded 30 scholarships to graduating seniors from throughout southeaster Michigan.

The Troy-based nonprofit organization announced the winners at its 16th annual golf outing and awards dinner, which raises funds for the scholarships, as well as other youth programs.

The ACC awarded scholarships to 30 students:

• Alabas Farhat of Dearborn, a Fordson High School graduate who is to attend University of Michigan-Dearborn. Farhat plans to study molecular biology and become a doctor.

• Ali Hammoud of Dearborn, a Fordson High School graduate who is to attend University of Michigan. Hammoud plans to study neuroscience and computer science.

• Andrew Israil of Troy, a Ferndale High School graduate who will attend Oakland University where he plans to study engineering.

• Asma Ahmed of Dearborn, an Edsel Ford High School graduate who plans to study pharmacy at Henry Ford College or Wayne State University.

• Bridget Putrus of Shelby Township, an Eisenhower High School graduate who is slated to attend Oakland University, where she plans to study business or pharmacy.

• Daniella Toma of Warren, a Warren Mott High School graduate who is slated to attend Oakland University where she plans to study chemistry.

• Eman Jassem of Dearborn, a Frontier International Academy graduate who is slated to attend University of Michigan-Dearborn to study biochemistry.

• Emily Kado of Rochester Hills, a Stoney Creek High School graduate who is slated to attend Wayne State University to study pharmacy.

• Fadya Yousif of Shelby Township, a Utica High School graduate who is slated to attend Macomb Community College or Oakland University with plans to study dentistry.

• Fatime Jomaa of Dearborn Heights, a Dearborn High School graduate who is slated to attend University of Michigan. She plans to pursue environmental studies with particular interest in water quality and global climate conditions.

• Hyatt Almarsoumi of Hamtramck, a Hamtramck High School graduate who is slated to attend Wayne State University. Almarsoumi plans to become a registered nurse.

• Jacob Cholagh of Sterling Heights, a Stevenson High School graduate who is slated to attend Oakland University where he plans to study biomedical science.

• Jasmine Awadi of Orchard Lake, a West Bloomfield High School graduate who is slated to attend Michigan State University where she plans to study veterinary medicine.

• Joseph Pio of Rochester Hills, a University of Detroit Jesuit High School graduate who is slated to attend Oakland University where he plans to study computer science or software engineering.

• Khadeja Jomaa of Dearborn, a Fordson High School graduate who is slated to attend University of Michigan. Jomaa plans to study biochemistry and become a pediatrician.

• Kyle George of West Bloomfield, a Groves High School graduate who is slated to attend Michigan State University where he plans to study business administration or finance.

• Mariam Baydoun of Dearborn, a Fordson High School graduate who is slated to attend University of Detroit-Mercy where she plans to study biology for a career in pharmacy.

• Marissa Lossia of Waterford, a Waterford Mott High School graduate who is slated to attend Wayne State University. Lossia plans to study medicine and become a physician assistant.

• Martin Dowda of Oak Park, a Ferndale High School graduate who is slated to attend Northern Michigan College where he plans to study energy.

• Marwa Albaadani of Dearborn, an Edsel Ford and Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology graduate who is slated to attend Harvard University. Albaadani plans to study biomimetic engineering.

• Mauda Abdullah of Dearborn, a Dearborn High School graduate who is slated to attend University of Michigan Dearborn. Abdullah plans to study biochemistry and French.

• Megan Adam of Sterling Heights, a Utica Academy for International Studies graduate who is slated to attend Oakland University to study dentistry and become an orthodontist.

• Melissa Ansara of Novi, a Novi High School graduate who is slated to attend Wayne State University. Ansara plans to study kinesiology for a career as a physical therapist.

• Michael Nunu of Dearborn Heights, a Detroit Catholic Central High School graduate who is slated to attend University of Michigan where he plans to study biochemistry.

• Moheb Aabed of Warren, a Warren Mott High School graduate who is slated to attend Macomb Community College where he plans to study computer science.

• Molouk Harp of Dearborn, a Fordson High School graduate who is slated to attend University of Michigan Dearborn where he plans to study computer science.

• Monzer Shihab of Sterling Heights, a Sterling Heights High School graduate who is slated to attend Wayne State University, where he plans to study engineering.

• Muna Alqaderi of Hamtramck, a Hamtramck High School graduate who is slated to attend Wayne State University.

• Mustapha Elghoul of Dearborn, a Fordson High School and Dearborn Center for Math, Science and Technology graduate who is slated to attend University of Michigan. Elghoul plans to study computer science or computer engineering.

• Ranya Krayem of Livonia, a Stevenson High School graduate who is slated to attend Wayne State University. Krayem plans to study medicine and become a pediatric physician.
