National unity core element for Iraq: Amir-Abdollahian

TEHRAN, Apr. 20 (MNA) – Iran Deputy-FM for Arab and African Affairs said unity and cohesion are key elements for Iraq to get through its current critical condition.
Meeting with Mohammad Faraj Ahmad Aziz, Kurdistan Islamic Union Party Secretary General, Amir-Abdollahian stressed the importance of stability and security in Iraq as well as Iran’s support for Iraq in fighting terrorism.

Noting Iran’s close and friendly relations with all Iraqi ethnic groups, Amir-Abdollahian assereted that Iran’s principled policy towards Iraq is to support its unity and integrity and to help maintainance of stability and security.

Deputy FM stated Iran is helping Kurdistan Region, as it was helping Iraq central government in fighting ISIL and would follow the same approach towards Iraqi Sunnis, Christians, Izadis, and all other ethnic and religious groups.

Welcoming Kurdistan’s proposal on continuation of consultations regarding the issues of Islamic countries, Amir-Abdollahian declared Iran’s readiness to hold talks in different levels.

Ahamd Aziz for his part commended Iran’s critical role in the region and extended his gratitude for Iran’s influential and proper help to fight ISIL in Arbil and Baghdad.

Noting Iraq’s complicated condition, Ahamd Aziz emphasized on the necessity to strengthen national talks and cooperation of ethnic groups to overcome the situation particularly in fighting terrorism.

“Iran and Iraq security are related and both countries have to help strengthen the stability and security in the region using historical, religious, and cultural bounds,” said he.

Pointing to the capabilities of Kurdistan Islamic Union, Ahmad Aziz said his party is ready to cooperate with Iran to fulfill the interests of Islamic world.
