Funeral Tuesday for store owner killed in robbery

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) — Police are searching for a suspect in the robbery-slaying of the 59-year-old owner of a suburban-Detroit convenience store.

Farmington Hills police say the shooting was reported Saturday afternoon at Tom’s Party Store, northwest of Detroit.

WWJ-AM identifies the victim as Duraid Loccia (duh-RAI’-id lu-SEE’-uh). Visitation for Loccia is 4-8 p.m. Monday at Southfield Funeral Home, with a funeral Mass at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Mother of God Chaldean Catholic Church in Southfield.

Police say officers were flagged down by a witness who told them a robbery had just occurred at the store and that he walked in to find the victim shot.

Officers used tracking dogs and a helicopter to search the area.
