For many of Syrian’s Christians, this Christmas season will be one spent far away from home. DW met a group of Syrians in Turkey to see what it’s like to celebrate Christmas on the run.

The increasing presence of radical Islamist groups fighting the Syrian regime is putting Syria’s ancient Christian population under growing pressure. Many are now fleeing to neighboring Turkey. With Christmas approaching the refugees are being supported by Turkey’s small Assyrian Christian community. Our correspondent Dorian Jones visited the Turkish city of Mardin close to the Syrian border.
